The palace
The palace of the Ottoman Empire also known as the Topkapi palace was built by the Sultan Mehmed II, this was after his army was able to storm and see the fall of the Constantinople which shocked the rest of Europe. The site for the new palace was at the ancient Byzantine acropolis which lay above three vital water bodies which were Bosporus, Golden Horn and also the Sea of Marmara. This palace was called the New Imperial Palace then before it took on the name Topkapi Sarayi which means the Palace of the Cannon Gate. The dynasty that lived in the palace ruled many empires from Europe to Asia and the Middle East and Africa.  This palace demonstrated power through the inaccessibility and in the mystery of the sultan as well as his court. The palace was used as the official palace for the sultans of the Ottoman.

The Law
The Sharia Law was the source of law in the Ottoman Empire and it was enforced through the existence of a three court system. They believed in solving problems locally and therefore were composed of the Kadi who was the lead judge for the Muslims and there was another judge for the non-Muslims who could be a Jew and a Christian who ruled over their areas the third was created after the capitulations. The magnitude and the type of conflict determined the court to seek and above all, there was the Kanun Law which was administrative in Nature. The primary Law system that existed in the Ottoman Empire was the Islamic courts which ensured that the Sharia Law and the Kanun Law was upheld.
